Frontline ’09 is an advocacy
program developed by the Texas Health Care Association (THCA) to inform
communities and elected officials about important long term care issues facing
our great state and the nation. Building on the momentum established by a
similar initiative last year – Educate ’08 – the program provides a
unique opportunity for nursing home administrators, residents, families, and
caregivers to share with elected officials their front-line perspective of the
impact of federal and state legislative decisions on long term care.
As part of
Frontline ’09, THCA is working with its members, and other organizations
in Texas focused on high quality health care and adequate funding. Concerned
citizens can directly contact elected officials to educate them on the types of
specialized health care services Texas’ nursing homes provide, and the need to
support quality long term care in our state through appropriate Medicaid
funding.
THCA has
developed a variety of tools sharing information about Texas’ long term care and
the need to enhance support for it in 2009. These include a presentation about
the need to adequately fund nursing home care, recent advertisements and fact
sheets from THCA explaining more about this issue.
